Advice for getting the most out of OnSources/Ebay drop-shipping:


DELIVERY TIMES

Certain products on OnSources have shorter or longer delivery times than others. This is because of (a) different schedules for batch QA checking that we do before sending, and (b) because we sometimes sell out of hot items and have to wait for a scheduled (usu. weekly) stock delivery date.

So what does this mean for you? It means some items may take longer to reach your customers than normal ebay buyers expect.

For example: Auction close date + Payment clearance to you + Maybe one day for you to order from us + One day for your payment to be processed + 4-7 days for the item to be sent out and reach the customer from China. Total time for the end customer: could be 10-14 days. (Obviously ordering from OnSources is quicker if you don't drop-ship and just preorder stock to sell from your location.)

I'm not telling you this to put you off - I just want to let you and your buyers have realistic time expectations. We are really shipping the products straight from China so next-day delivery is not going to be reality. I think if your buyers are aware of this when they order from you they will still be more than happy with the great prices they are getting.


BUY SINGLE SAMPLES FOR YOURSELF FIRST - IT WILL PAY OFF!

I really recommend trying some single item sample orders. Just choose one category and order samples of three or four different products. Compare them first hand and choose which you like - if you know the product and are keen on it yourself, you'll be able to sell it more convincingly. Of course you will also be able to take your own pictures of the product and packing, and even buff up the description according to your audience.

All that will help you make your sales copy unique so you can sell the items like hot cakes in a competitive environment like Ebay.


ORDERING SAMPLES FIRST HELPS YOU GET TO KNOW ONSOURCES . . . AND VICE VERSA

OnSources has no minimum order quantity so it's easy to pick up samples of anything listed on the site. This will give you a chance to see our delivery speed in action for that particular product as well.

In addition if we already know you as a previous buyer shipping to yourself, before you start placing drop-ship orders, it may mean we can just approve these payments swiftly without having to contact you about the order first. (That's our standard policy of payment verification for new customers where the addresses differ, for obvious fraud prevention reasons.)


OH NO! TAXES!

A final note: if you are drop-ship importing, the buyer who is receiving the package may have to pay some import duties (tax) to the courier when the goods are signed for, over and above what they've already paid for the goods. Unfortunately we can't do anything to stop this - it's not our charges or China's taxes - it's the local country's import tax. We already declare goods at low values according to customers' order instructions, but sometimes it's impossible to get within the tax-free threshold. So please check up on the rates and rules in your country and also let your own buyers know what to expect.
