WiFi, MP4 players, WAP capabilities, and cameras... oh
my!
If you're selling
unlocked mobile phones, brand name mobile phones, wholesale mobile phones or
mobile phone watches online times have never been better with a wider range of
phones to supply or a bigger market of people to cater to.
Mobile phones have
become an almost indispensable part of our everyday life and many companies are
offering customers a wide variety of phones with an incredible array of
capabilities to better cater to peoples increasingly mobile lifestyles.
And consumers are
clamoring for more and more phones with more high tech features so that now
even the iPhone is too simple for the Japanese market.
So, if you're an
eBay trader or online vendor how do you cater to this market to not only turn a
profit but keep customers happy so that they'll come back to you when they want
a new phone and bring their friends and family with them?
While marketing
phones correctly and having a good customer service plan are the basics of any
e-commerce business the secret, like in any good recipe, is in how you source
it.
Here are some
insider tips and secrets on how you can source exciting, brand new unlocked
mobile phones, brand name mobile phones and mobile phone wrist watches without
being cheated or loosing customers due to faulty products.
Trademark Phones
Selling popular
trademarked phones online can be a positive and negative experience all rolled
into one.
While it might seem
that almost everybody wants an iPhone, N95 or ROKR and almost all of those
people are shopping online it appears now that everybody else wants to sell a
phone to them and a small, but not insubstantial portion of those people are
inadvertently or inadvertently selling an empty box or a fake phone.
Short of selling wholesale mobile phones or cell phone
wrist watches which are newer markets and have less vendors competing in them,
the best way to ensure good levels of customer share is to make sure you only
use reliable, trustworthy suppliers.
The first step
towards finding a reliable supplier is to make sure their business, website or
and pricing doesn't look suspect.
Once finding, what
looks to be a good source of products online, be it a mobile shop in China or a
wholesale company in another country, you need to ask yourself the following
questions:
1) Do they give you
enough contact information?
2) Is there website
professionally put together, does they include their own product descriptions
and product photos?
3) Do larger photos
of their products look like the genuine item from the trademarked phone's
website?
4) Is the price too
high or too low?
5) Do I have to pay
a 'sign up fee to start selling the phone?
6) Has anybody
complained about them on dropshipping, e-commerce and wholesale forums or fraudwatch
sites?
It's important to
find phones that are in the correct price range, or 'Goldilocks' price range.
While you don't
want to be paying the same for an iPhone that you would be paying in a store
prices that are too cheap should be viewed suspiciously too.
Anybody offering a
trademark phone, whether it is an unlocked cellphone or just a straight vanilla
smart phone, should be viewed with a healthy dose of skepticism if they offer
their models with prices 50% of what you'd pay for the same phone on the
wholesale market.
iPhone and HiPhone,
which is which?
Be wary of trying
to sell rough copies and counterfeits like the HiPhone (Right) as you may find
them either being held up at custom or creating a lawsuit for you.
The phones they are
selling could be counterfeit, stolen, or they may just take your, or your
customer's, money with no intention of sending your, or your customer's,
phones.
When trying to sort
out real trademarked phones from the fakes, thankfully some of that can be done
online.
If the sites have
product pictures, examine the product pictures side by side with one from the
trademarked site. For example if you're looking at stocking an iPhone then
visit the Apple store for a photo you can use to compare it with.
If any of the
icons, buttons or the phone's general appearance differs from the original
there's a chance that you've got a fake.
For example, when
comparing the iPhone to the popular iPhone alternative the HiPhone it is easy
to see that while the HiPhone resembles the iPhone closely in appearance the
HiPhone has a row of icons along the bottom of the screen that are not on the
iPhone and the HiPhone has a red unlock button while the iPhone's unlock button
is clear.
If it checks out
online it's almost imperative that you order a sample as you don't only have to
check that the phone works, you've also got to check that the phone is not a
fake.
The best way to do
this is to take it to a licensed reseller of that trademark, for example if
you're going to resell iPhones online go to the Apple outlet, or if you're
selling the N95 then test it out first at a licensed Nokia dealership.
However, if this is
not possible then the next step is to compare the sample to a model you know to
be genuine.
Inadvertently
stocking and selling a knockoff, be it a iPhone copy or a fake Nokia, can hurt
more than your seller reputation as companies like Apple have become
increasingly aggressive in taking legal action against those that sell fake
iPods online.
